Vaginal Davis
Decoupage! 1990
Decoupage! was a late 1980s–90s public access TV show hosted by
Summer Caprice, known for parodying daytime talk shows through kitsch, satire, and performance. Intersex artist Vaginal Davis—whose work
explores the intersections of Blackness, queerness, and punk aesthetics—frequently appeared on the show. Her presence embodied its spirit of
radical self-expression and subcultural resistance.
While not created by Black artists, Decoupage! served as an
inclusive space for artists like Davis, foregrounding voices often
excluded from mainstream media.
